The Camino Medical Group International Travel Clinic no
longer requires an appointment to be seen by a travel medicine
physician for a professional consultation. You may "walk-in"
unscheduled, Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30
p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. If you know exactly
what immunizations you need and do not need to see a physician,
you may "walk-in" for a "nurse-only" visit.
If you are coming to the Travel Clinic for a pre-travel
consultation, please try to come as early as possible -
4 weeks or more is preferable. If you are moving out of
the country, traveling for long periods of time, or traveling
to hazardous areas, it is best to come 8 weeks before departure.
Always bring your immunization records with you and be knowledgeable
regarding your personal medications and allergies.
Very few insurance plans pay for travel-related physician
consultations, immunizations, or prescription medications.
We have no way of knowing what your insurance plan covers
for any of the above services. In order for travel medicine
consultations or immunizations to be a covered benefit,
your medical insurance plan must include a specific clause,
or rider, that includes the word "travel." If you think
your insurance plan pays for some or all of the above professional
services, bring a copy of the plan statement or obtain authorization
from the plan, in writing, before you come to the Travel
Clinic. If you do not have insurance plan documentation
or written authorization you will be expected to pay at
the time of service. We accept VISA, Mastercard, and Discover
credit cards. If you are a corporate traveler, check with
your employer regarding payment of fees before you come.
If you call the office for information or to make an appointment,
please do not ask the receptionist what immunizations or
what medications you will need. They do not have that information
and can not discuss specifics with you. Because they do
not know exactly what services you will need, they can not
quote you an exact price for the consultation and immunizations.
